What slows you down today — and how GVenue solves it

“What if the internet goes down at 3 a.m. on a Saturday?”
The bar keeps taking cash with the menu it already had loaded. The cashier doesn’t switch screens or learn anything new.
Sales from the outage show up all at once, or not at all
Each sale is saved on the device with the real time it was rung up, and uploads on its own when the connection comes back.
The power went out or the tablet died
When you’re back, a menu with one field per product: it takes minutes to fill in, updates stock, adds to revenue and balances the cash count. It works even if someone jotted it down on a napkin.
Closing the night with sales that never uploaded
The end-of-day close won’t go through while anything is still pending upload, and it tells you which device and which cashier it belongs to.

Everything in one system

Switches to backup mode on its own

If a sale doesn’t go through, or the server fails to respond twice in a row, the bar switches to offline mode. Twice, not once, so a Wi-Fi blip doesn’t stop you from taking cards.

Keeps taking cash

With the menu and prices already loaded. Cards, balance and promotions turn off: without the server there’s no way to verify a payment or a 2-for-1.

Every sale with its real time

It’s saved on the device with the time it was rung up. Otherwise, the whole outage would pile up in the minute the internet came back.

The queue uploads on its own

When the server is back, sales upload without anyone touching anything. The status light turns yellow while they upload and green when it’s done.

What doesn’t add up isn’t deleted

A sale the server can’t accept as is gets flagged for review —stock that’s no longer there, a sale that uploaded twice— and is resolved by hand, one by one.

Entry by totals

For a power outage or a dead tablet: one field per product and the time window of the outage. It deducts stock, adds to the register and is flagged as backup mode in the report.

The close checks before closing

If anything is still pending upload, the register won’t close. If the tablet was lost, there’s an emergency exit with a required reason, and it’s logged.

A status light that doesn’t lie

Green comes from the server actually responding, recently, not from the device having Wi-Fi. Each color comes with its own label: it’s never read by color alone.

What changes when the internet goes down

With GV Offline

  • The bar keeps selling for cash, on the same screen.
  • Every sale keeps its real time and uploads on its own.
  • A power outage is handled with entry by totals.
  • The register won’t close with sales pending upload.
  • It comes included with GV Barra: nothing to sign up for the day of the outage.

What you no longer have to handle on your own

  • Shutting down the bar until the connection comes back.
  • Writing it down on paper and entering it by hand the next day.
  • Rebuilding from memory what was sold during the outage.
  • Finding out days later that sales were missing from the close.
  • Paying for something extra just to be covered.

No extra charge: it comes with the system

GV Offline is part of GV Barra (USD 45 per month per venue): if you have the bar, you already have it. There’s no module to sign up for and no box to check the day the internet goes down, because by then it’s too late to sign up for anything.

The status light, at the top of the screen

Green: the server just responded and nothing is waiting. Yellow: sales are going through fine, but some are uploading or something is pending resolution. Red: backup mode is on, cash only and no promotions; tap it to test the reconnection. Gray: nothing can be confirmed yet, because it just opened or the server hasn’t confirmed in a while.

Which device: for the bar, Android

On Android the queue uploads on its own even if the app is closed or the screen turns off: that’s our recommendation for bar tablets. iPhone and iPad don’t support background sync: they sell just the same offline and save the sales just the same, but for them to upload the screen has to stay open, and the on-screen banner says so in plain words.

What it doesn’t cover: the door

The door doesn’t validate without a connection, on purpose. If two doors validated offline, neither would know the other had already let that code in, and a person who’s already inside can’t be undone. That’s why the validator works online only.

The way to avoid that problem is a phone with mobile data at the door: each scan uses very little. And if you still end up with nothing, you can print the night’s list from the dashboard to check by hand: it lets people in, but it doesn’t control double entry or capacity. It’s a plan B, not a replacement.

Frequently asked questions

How much does GV Offline cost?
Nothing extra: it comes included in GV Barra (USD 45 per month per venue).
Do I have to press anything when the internet goes down?
No. The bar switches to backup mode on its own and back out on its own. The cashier keeps selling for cash on the same screen.
Why doesn’t it take cards offline?
Because without the server there’s no way to know whether a payment was approved, and charging blind is worse than not charging. Promotions turn off too: a 2-for-1 applied wrong with no way to verify it gives away the night.
What if the power goes out?
When it’s back, you enter the outage totals in a menu with one field per product. It updates stock, adds to revenue and balances the cash count, with the time of the outage.
Does the door work without internet too?
No, on purpose: a QR code validated offline could get in twice. A phone with mobile data at the door is enough, and there’s a printed list as plan B.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes, it sells and saves just the same. The difference is that on iPhone and iPad the screen has to stay open for sales to upload. For the bar we recommend Android.
Can I close the register with sales still pending upload?
No. The close won’t go through while anything is pending, and it tells you which device and which cashier it belongs to. If the tablet was lost, there’s an emergency exit with a required reason, and it’s logged.
What happens to a sale that doesn’t add up when it uploads?
It isn’t deleted: it’s flagged for review —stock that’s no longer there, a sale that uploaded twice— and is resolved by hand, one by one.
